When something goes wrong
What the most common Letos error messages mean (low storage, expired sign-in, device limit, unsent message, failed sync) and what to do.

- Letos account and devices
- “Account sign-in expired”

- “Removing access isn’t available right now. Try again later. Sync is not affected.”
- “The account has already reached the maximum number of devices for its plan…”
- “Sending failed”
- “Signing in to the account failed — check the password in Settings.” / “No connection to the server — trying again.” / “The server didn’t respond in time — trying again.”
- Sync
- “Sync failed: …” / “The last sync attempt failed — we’ll try again automatically.”
- What to avoid
This page explains the messages you are most likely to see in Letos when something goes wrong. Each one has why and what to do. The wording is copied from the app. If nothing here helps, write to [email protected] (see Technical).
A change couldn’t be saved
“Your device is low on storage, so the change couldn’t be saved…”
- Why: the device ran out of space, so Letos couldn’t write anything.
- What to do: free up space (for example, delete photos or apps you don’t need) and try again. That one change wasn’t saved, but nothing else was lost because of it.
- When to write to support: the message keeps coming back even though the device has enough space.
“The app is busy finishing a sync and couldn’t save the change. Try again in a moment.”
- Why: a write collided with another write, most often with a sync.
- What to do: wait a few seconds and repeat the action. Nothing was lost.
“This device was just wiped. Please try again.”
- Why: the action queued up behind a device wipe in progress (for example after signing out with data deletion).
- What to do: repeat it. It is saved to the clean database.
Letos account and devices
“Account sign-in expired”
Full message: This device’s sign-in to the Letos account has expired, so the plan, invites and device list can’t be shown right now.
- Why: the server refused to renew this device’s sign-in to the account (it expired, was revoked, or another device used it in the meantime).
- What to do: sign in to the account again in Settings → Letos account. The email will be pre-filled, just enter the password, and tasks download fresh after you sign in. Task sync signs in separately, so it can keep running in the meantime. You don’t need to sign the device out because of this: signing out deletes the data from this device, and signing in again takes another place in the device limit (see below).
“Couldn’t load the device list and plan right now.”
- Why: the account screen just didn’t load. Task sync is working all the while.
- What to do: click Retry. Don’t sign out because of it.
“Removing access isn’t available right now. Try again later. Sync is not affected.”
- Why: the server didn’t accept removing the device right now, even though the device list is visible.
- What to do: try again later, or sign in again. The device list doesn’t go away because of this.
“The account has already reached the maximum number of devices for its plan…”
- Why: every device you don’t remove from the account counts against the plan’s limit. Each new sign-in creates a new entry, even on the same phone, so the limit is most often taken up by an old entry for the same device. How many devices a plan allows is on the pricing page.
- What to do: in Settings → Letos account → Devices (on another device that is signed in to the account) remove the old entry or a device you no longer use, or switch to a higher plan, and then sign in again.
“Sending failed”
Letos shows the reason on the message. The problem is on the mail server’s side, not in Letos.
| Message | What to do |
|---|---|
| Signing in to the mail server failed | Check the mailbox password (with some providers an app password) in Settings → Email accounts. |
| The server rejected the message (mailbox full or message too large) | Make the attachment smaller. The recipient’s mailbox may also be full. |
| The recipient address doesn’t exist / Invalid recipient address | Fix the address. |
| The mail server is unreachable | Try again later. |
| The server rejected the message | The server gave no reason. Try again or simplify the message. |
A message that didn’t go out stays in Unsent and scheduled messages, where you can Try again or discard it. If even the retry fails, you see Sending failed again. For some errors Letos also tries once more on its own.
“Signing in to the account failed — check the password in Settings.” / “No connection to the server — trying again.” / “The server didn’t respond in time — trying again.”
- Why: loading the message body from the mail provider failed (wrong password, no connection, or the server didn’t respond).
- What to do: for the first message, check the mailbox password in Settings → Email accounts. For the other two, do nothing: Letos tries again on its own.
Sync
“Sync failed: …” / “The last sync attempt failed — we’ll try again automatically.”
- Why: the transfer didn’t go through, most often because of the connection. Letos retries on its own with a growing pause (from 30 seconds, at most 15 minutes).
- What to do: wait, and check your connection if needed. The changes are sent as soon as the connection is back.
- More about sync is in Sync and devices.
What to avoid
A message about an expired sign-in, or a device list that didn’t load, doesn’t mean you should sign the device out. Signing out deletes the data from that device, which then has to download again (see Sync and devices).
