Installation

Letos isn’t publicly available for download yet. Download links and invites are on the Download page.

Platform Status Requirements
macOS desktop app macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon and Intel
iPhone iOS app iOS 15 or later
Web in the browser a Letos account
Windows, Linux Coming —
  • macOS: the app is signed and notarized by Apple. After installing, drag it into Applications. It downloads updates on its own.
  • iPhone: the iOS app shares its core with the desktop app. There’s no local AI on the iPhone (see AI).
  • Web: the web version is the same app in your browser. You sign in with your Letos account. For now we set up web accounts ourselves, together with invites.

First run

On a new device you’re greeted by Welcome to Letos with two buttons:

  • I’m new here — walks you through a short setup wizard.
  • I already use Letos → sign in — you sign in with your Letos account and the app downloads your settings (“Downloading your settings…”). You don’t need the wizard.

Setup wizard

The wizard has a few steps (“Step 1 of …”). You can Skip this step for any of them and finish it later in Settings.

  1. Welcome to Letos — a short intro to the four modules: Letos, Mail, Calendar, Tasks.
  2. Mail — Add account (see below).
  3. AI — turning on local AI. Only shown on computers that can run it (Apple Silicon with at least 16 GB RAM).
  4. Calendar — Connect Google account and choose which calendars are visible.
  5. Tasks — categories, daily capacity and a quick-add example.
  6. What do you want this year? — one to five yearly goals, each with why you want it. You’ll find them later in Tasks → Year.
  7. Done — a summary of what’s set up and what you can finish in Settings.

When you finish, the app opens on the Letos home screen. You can rerun the wizard at any time from the command palette (⌘ K).

Beta

Letos is in beta. A BETA badge sits in the app header; hover over it and you see: “Letos is in Beta – we cannot guarantee your data, keep backups.” So do keep backups (see Export and import).

On first launch you have to accept the beta terms: you read a short notice, tick “I understand and agree” and click Continue. You can’t get into the app without it. The acceptance syncs between devices, so you confirm it once and it applies on all your devices. We only ask again if the terms change.

Your Letos account

You need a Letos account (e-mail and password) for sync between devices, for the web version and for plans. The desktop and iOS apps also work without one — everything then stays on that one device.

  • Registering: invite-only for now. In the sign-in form, click No account? Register with an invite. Someone who already uses Letos can send you an invite too.
  • Signing in: Settings → Letos account → Sign in to your Letos account. If you have two-factor authentication on, you also enter the Verification code.
  • Verifying your e-mail: after registering you get a verification e-mail. Didn’t arrive? Use Resend verification email.
  • Recovery code: when encrypted sync is set up, Letos shows you a recovery code (“Save this recovery code”). It’s shown only once — keep it somewhere safe. Without it (and without your password) the encrypted sync data can’t be restored.

The app doesn’t have a self-service “forgot password” flow yet. If you forget your password, write to [email protected].

Prices and plans are on the Pricing page.

Connecting mail

Settings → Email accounts → Add account.

Google (Gmail)

Click Sign in with Google. A browser opens where you sign in and grant access. One sign-in connects mail and Google Calendar at once. Meanwhile Letos shows “Waiting for sign-in in the browser…”.

Other mailboxes (IMAP)

  1. Fill in your e-mail, password and optionally Display name (optional).
  2. Click Detect settings. Letos tries to find the servers on its own: it knows common providers (e.g. Seznam, iCloud, Outlook.com, Yahoo, Fastmail), recognises domains hosted at Seznam Email Profi, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and iCloud, and can ask Thunderbird’s settings database.
  3. Check Incoming mail (IMAP) and Outgoing mail (SMTP) — server, port and security.
  4. Click Verify and then Add account.

If the settings can’t be detected, you enter the servers by hand. If verification fails and you know the settings are right, you can use Save anyway.

Letos doesn’t support Outlook.com, Hotmail and Microsoft 365 accounts yet. Microsoft has turned off password sign-in over IMAP for them.

How many mailboxes you can have depends on your plan (see Pricing). Mailboxes over the limit are only deactivated (“Inactive (plan limit)”); nothing is deleted.

Connecting a calendar

Letos supports Google Calendar. If you connected Gmail through Google, you already have your calendar. Otherwise click Add a Google account in Calendar.

You choose which calendars are visible with the checkboxes in Calendar’s left panel. Holidays and name days work without an account — see Calendar.

Letos doesn’t support iCloud or CalDAV calendars yet. You can still add invitations from e-mail (.ics files) to your calendar.
