Getting started on iPhone

Step by step: installing on iPhone, the first run, signing in to your Letos account, mail, calendar and notifications.

This guide walks you through your first run of Letos on an iPhone. The iOS app shares its core with the desktop app, so you can download most of your setup from your account in seconds.

Letos isn’t publicly available for download yet. You’ll find a link or invite on the Download page. You need iOS 15 or later.

1. Launch the app

After installing, open the app. You’re greeted by Welcome to Letos:

  • I already use Letos → sign in — the quickest path if you already have an account from the Mac or web. The app downloads your settings and mailboxes.
  • I’m new here — a short wizard.

2. Go through the wizard

The steps are the same as on the Mac (mail, calendar, tasks, yearly goals), plus a Default mail app step. You can Skip this step on any of them and finish it later in Settings.

Local AI doesn’t run on the iPhone. If you want AI, set up your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint later in Settings → AI (see Turning on AI).

3. Sign in to your Letos account

If you didn’t choose to sign in at the welcome screen:

  1. Open Settings → Letos account → Sign in to your Letos account.
  2. Enter your e-mail and password (and the Verification code if you use two-factor authentication).

After signing in, your mailboxes, calendars, tasks and preferences download from your account. What you set on one device applies here too.

4. Add mail and a calendar (if you’re new)

If you didn’t download your setup from an account, add a mailbox in Settings → Email accounts → Add account — for Gmail via Sign in with Google (it connects the calendar too), otherwise over IMAP.

5. Allow notifications

So that task and event reminders arrive even with the app closed, allow notifications when iOS asks. On the iPhone the system schedules the next 48 reminders, up to 4 weeks ahead.

Change it any time in iOS Settings → Letos → Notifications.

iPhone tips

  • Mail gestures: swipe right toggles read/unread, swipe left offers Snooze and Archive, long press opens more actions.
  • New task in one tap: on an iPhone with iOS 18 or later, add the Nový úkol (New task) control to Control Center or to the Action button (iPhone 15 Pro and later).
  • Quick add understands Czech: “zítra v 15:30 P1 Práce: zavolat Petrovi” (tomorrow at 15:30, P1, category Work: call Peter).
