Tasks and Today step by step

How to jot down a task, triage your Inbox, plan today and clear your day from the Today card.

~9 min

Tasks in Letos have three views: Year, Overview and Triage. This guide shows how to jot tasks down, triage them and plan them for today.

1. Jot a task down with quick add

Click ➕ New task (or ⌘ N in Tasks) and write in Czech:

zítra v 15:30 P1 Práce: e-mail Petrovi

(tomorrow at 15:30, priority P1, category Work: e-mail Peter) — Letos picks out the date, time, priority (P1–P5) and category. Put several tasks on separate lines. Parsing only works in Czech.

2. Triage your Inbox

New tasks without a priority or category wait in the Inbox. Triage walks you through them one by one. Press a key for each:

Key Action
1–5 Priority P1–P5
D / Z / T Today / Tomorrow / Next week
H Done
N / S Not now / Someday
→ Skip

The Triage tab shows how many tasks are still untriaged.

3. Plan today

Overview is a board of columns. The column names are in Czech in both languages of the app. The key one is Dnes (Today) — tasks due today or overdue.

  • A task lands in today either by its due date, in Triage with the D key, or by dragging it into the Dnes column.
  • Move around the board with J / K (down and up) and H / L (between columns); Enter opens the detail.

4. Clear your day on the home screen

The Letos home screen (⌘ 0) shows the Today card: one timeline of today’s events and tasks, with a “now” line.

  • Tick a task off right here.
  • Type a new task for today into Add for today….
  • The Waiting for you card gathers unread e-mails, tasks to triage and overdue items.

5. Give a task detail when it needs it

The task detail shows only the essentials (title, due date, priority, category). + Add adds the section you want right now: Description, Checklist, Attachments, Subtasks, Dependencies. Under More you’ll find Reminders, Recurrence, Estimate (min), Goal and Focus.

Focus is a countdown for one task (on the computer More → Focus (Pomodoro), on the iPhone the Start 25 min button).
