Getting started on Mac

Step by step: installing on Mac, the first run with the wizard, your Letos account, and connecting mail and a calendar.

~10 min

This guide walks you through your first run of Letos on a Mac — from installing to connected mail and calendar. It takes a few minutes.

Letos isn’t publicly available for download yet. You’ll find a link or invite on the Download page. You need macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon or Intel).

1. Install the app

  1. Open the downloaded app. It’s signed and notarized by Apple.
  2. Drag it into Applications.
  3. Launch it. Letos then downloads updates on its own.

2. Go through the first run

On a new device you’re greeted by Welcome to Letos with two buttons:

  • I’m new here — a short setup wizard (carry on below).
  • I already use Letos → sign in — you sign in with your Letos account and the app downloads your settings. You don’t need the wizard.

You can Skip this step on any wizard step (“Step 1 of …”) and finish it later in Settings. The steps cover: an intro to the modules, adding mail, turning on AI (only on capable Macs), connecting a calendar, tasks and yearly goals.

After the wizard, Letos opens on the home screen.

3. Sign in to your Letos account (optional)

You need a Letos account (e-mail and password) for sync between devices, for the web version and for paid plans. Without one the app still works — everything stays on this Mac.

  1. Open Settings → Letos account → Sign in to your Letos account.
  2. Enter your e-mail and password. With two-factor authentication on, you also enter the Verification code.
  3. Registering is invite-only for now: in the sign-in form click No account? Register with an invite.

When encrypted sync is set up, Letos shows you a recovery code. It’s shown only once — keep it somewhere safe. Without it (and your password) the encrypted data can’t be restored.

4. Connect mail

Open Settings → Email accounts → Add account.

  • Gmail: click Sign in with Google. You sign in and grant access in the browser. One sign-in connects mail and Google Calendar at once.
  • Other mailbox (IMAP): fill in your e-mail and password, click Detect settings, check Incoming mail (IMAP) and Outgoing mail (SMTP), then Verify and Add account.

Outlook.com, Hotmail and Microsoft 365 accounts don’t work yet — Microsoft turned off password sign-in over IMAP for them.

5. Connect a calendar

If you connected Gmail through Google, you already have your calendar. Otherwise click Add a Google account in Calendar. Then tick the calendars you want to see in the left panel.

Holidays and name days work without an account.
