Letos is built around what you want to achieve this year. This guide shows how to set a yearly goal, break it into steps and stick with it.

1. Set a goal
Open Tasks → Year (or the Letos card on the home screen) and add a goal:
- Write a title.
- Add Why I want this this year.
- Set By when (the default is the end of the year).
You can have at most 5 active goals. No more — park one first into the Beyond this year section.
2. Break the goal into steps
A goal without steps offers Break it down. You’ll find it on the goal card, in its detail and in the new-goal dialog.
- Pick a template: Read books, Run a half marathon, Learn a language, Save money, Side project or My own goal.
- Answer five questions (what, why, how you’ll know it’s done, by when, how much time a week).
- Review the goal, one milestone for each remaining quarter and the first tasks for two weeks on one screen. Every row can be edited, unticked, removed and reordered.
- Add selected saves only the ticked rows.
With AI turned on on a Mac, the template becomes Plan with AI — see Turning on AI.
3. Track your pace
Each goal shows the share of time gone versus the share of the goal done — on track, behind or no milestones. The year card also shows a ring of how much of the year has passed.
4. Pick this week’s tasks
The This week card on the home screen lets you pick up to 3 tasks linked to your goals that matter this week.
- Click Pick and choose tasks, or use Accept suggestion (the suggestion is built from your own tasks, without AI).
- The To Today button on a task sets its due date to today.
5. Look back once a week
The Weekly look back walks you through what moved during the week. The letos.md button also copies a one-page summary of your year to the clipboard — you can paste it into any AI assistant. Letos doesn’t send it anywhere.
